How Basketball Stars works

Each match starts as a one-on-one contest with a simple goal: score more before time runs out.

You only get 60 seconds. That's just enough time for a few drives and a steal, or to make one mistake that lets your opponent score before you can recover.

The short rounds make it easy to jump straight back in and try again. Miss a play, restart within seconds and try again with a better move. This is where you start blocking shots you used to miss and turning defence into fast points.

Now it starts to feel less chaotic. You start spotting chances to steal or drive to the basket faster. Sometimes the whole match comes down to one play.

Possession changes instantly, so you must switch from scoring to defending without hesitation. Hesitate for a second and the ball is gone. Act first and you control the play.

• Dash: Double-tap a direction

• Supershot: Z

Shooting and scoring

Scoring is about getting into the right spot and choosing the right moment to shoot.

• Getting closer to the basket makes your shots much harder to block.
• Rushed shots are easier for your opponent to block or steal.
• The Supershot special move can quickly turn a losing round into a win.

Because rounds are so short, one good drive can decide everything. Good timing is often the difference between a win and running out of time.

Basketball Stars game modes

You can jump into different modes depending on how you want to play.

• Quick Match is for instant revenge. Lose a round, restart immediately and try to outplay the same matchup.
• Tournament Mode raises the stakes. Lose one game and the run is over, so every possession feels heavier.
• Training Mode lets you practise steals and timing before jumping back into real matches.

Basketball Stars 2 player mode

The 2 player mode in Basketball Stars lets you team up or play against a friend using the same device. There are 3 different 2 player games modes:

• 1v1: This is the classic you vs your friend in an all out test of skill to see who is the best Basketball Stars player.
• 2v2: This game mode gives each of you an extra player to play either defense or offense. These players are controlled by the game, not the player.
• Co-op 2v2: Team up with your friend to take on a team of 2 other players controlled by the game.

2 player controls

In 2 player mode, the controls will change so that it's easier to share one keyboard.

Player 1:

• Move: Left and Right arrows

• Pump / block: Down arrow
